Attic red-figure lekythos   from the workshop of Brygos ATTIC RED-FIGURE LEKYTHOS FROM THE WORKSHOP OF BRYGOS

Possibly by the Painter of Villa Giulia 50508. A bearded man wearing a fillet, leans upon a knotty staff.

He wears only a bordered himation wrapped around him.
His right hand rests upon his waist
and in his left hand he holds a lyre. Fine style.

Ca. 490-480 BC

H. 10 1/2 in. (26.7 cm.)

Ex collection of a former Heidelberg Univ. professor, acquired 1972-1996, Switzerland; R.B. collection, St. Louis, Missouri, 2008-2018, purchased from Royal-Athena Galleries.
